Description

Sizable collection of forty-eight pinbacks dating from the 1940s through the 1960s featuring exclusively New York Yankees Hall of Famers and stars. These pins, which were often available for purchase at stadiums during this era, are found in a number of different sizes and styles. Offered here are large and small format pins, eleven of which have attachments connected to the pinback. Oftentimes, colorful ribbons and baseball-themed items, such as bats, balls, or gloves, were added to the pins, and this style is generally encountered less frequently and is more desirable among collectors. This collection consists of the following: Yogi Berra (6 pins): One 1-3/8" in diameter (1964 "Yogi Berra Day" Yankee Stadium) with attachment consisting of ribbon and charms; four 1.75" in diameter (three different images), two of which have attachments consisting of ribbon and charms; and one 2" in diameter with attachment consisting of ribbon and charm. Andy Carey (1 pin): 2" in diameter with attachment consisting of ribbon and charms. Jerry Coleman (1 pin): 1.75" in diameter. First name printed as "Gerry." Joe Collins (1 pin): 2" in diameter with ribbon attached. Whitey Ford (3 pins): 1.75" in diameter with attachment consisting of ribbon and charms; 2" in diameter with attachment consisting of ribbon and charms; and 3.5" in diameter. Tom Henrich (4 pins): Two different images and all measure 1.75" in diameter, one of which has attachment consisting of ribbon and charms. Ed Lopat (1 pin): 2" in diameter. Billy Martin (1 pin): 2" in diameter with ribbon attached. Gil McDougald (2 pins): One 1.75" in diameter and one 2" in diameter with attachment consisting of ribbon and charms. Tom Morgan (1 pin): 2" in diameter. Joe Page (1 pin): 1.75" in diameter. Missing the pinback. Vic Raschi (1 pin): 1.75" in diameter with attachment consisting of ribbon and charms. Allie Reynolds (1 pin): 2" in diameter with attachment consisting of ribbon and charms. Phil Rizzuto (1 pin): 1.75" in diameter with attachment consisting of ribbon and charm. Frank Shea (1 pin): 1.75" in diameter. Bill Skowron (1 pin): 2" in diameter. Bob Turley (1 pin): 2" in diameter with attachment consisting of ribbon and charms. Gene Woodling (2 pins): Two different images and both measure 2" in diameter. New York Yankees logo/slogan (18 pins): Two 3/4" in diameter, one missing pinback; two 1.25" in diameter, one of which has attachment consisting of ribbon and charms; eleven 1.75" in diameter (seven different designs including one 1957 World Series Yankees - Braves), nine of which have attachments consisting of ribbons and/or charms; one 2.25" in diameter (1955 World Series Yankees-Dodgers Ebbets Field); and two with pin clasps. Condition is overall Very Good to Excellent, with some light fraying to the attachments or rust on the pinback reverse. This is a very attractive collection of these popular and desirable pins.
