Description

New York Yankees home jersey worn by Frank Crosetti as a coach in 1952. Graded A10 by MEARS. The white pinstripe flannel jersey features the famous "NY" logo on the front and the number "2" on the reverse, each appliqued in navy tackle twill. The name "Crossetti" is chain-stitched in black upon a white felt strip tag in the collar. Located on the left front tail are a "Wilson" label, a "40" size tag and a laundry tag. Directly below the tagging is the year "1952," chain-stitched in black. The jersey is completely original, with no alterations, and displays heavy wear. Frank Crosetti was a key member of the 1936-1939 Yankees dynasty and helped lead the club to nine pennants and eight World Championships over the course of his seventeen-year career (1932-1948). After his playing career ended he served as the Yankees third base coach for twenty years and participated in fifteen more World Series. Today, Crosetti's thirty-seven-year tenure with the club remains the longest on record. 1950s Yankees home flannel jerseys are among the most desirable of all postwar jerseys. This is an exceptional piece of Yankee history dating to their record streak of five consecutive World Championships. Graded A10 by MEARS. Full LOA from MEARS.
