Graded NM 7 by PSA. One of only two examples graded at this level by PSA with none higher! Magnificent high-grade example of legendary New York Giants Hall of Fame pitcher Christy Mathewson in a throwing pose from the very scarce E95 Philadelphia Caramel series. This 25-card set was issued in 1909 by the Philadelphia Caramel Co. of Camden, New Jersey. Mathewson, of course, is one of the key cards in the set. This is also one of Mathewson's most highly regarded cards from any set and is considerably rarer than the popular T205 and T206 cards of Matty from the same era. The offered card has bright colors, outstanding registration, and light touches of wear on the four square corners. The reverse features a boldly printed checklist for the set. It is interesting to note Mathewson’s name is misspelled “Matthewson” on this card. This is a very attractive high-grade example of one of Mathewson’s most striking cards from one of the most popular and colorful of all “E” card issues.
