Presented is a near-complete set of 1978-1979 Topps basketball, missing only #80 Maravich and 130 Erving for completion, consisting of 130 different cards (out of 132 in the set). 128 of the 130 cards have been signed (#12 E.C. Coleman and 67 Checklist are the only cards that are not signed). #80 Maravich is being sold individually in this auction. The signatures are scripted in a variety of inks. Condition of the cards is 50% Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt (including some Nr/Mt-Mt), 42% Vg-Ex to Ex, and 8% Gd to Vg. Keys: #1 Walton (Vg-Ex), 10 Davis RC (Vg-Ex), 20 Gervin (Ex+), 38 M. Malone (H.O.F. 2001, Ex-Mt+), 75 King RC (Ex), 78 D. Johnson RC (Vg+), 83 Frazier (Ex), 110 Abdul-Jabbar (Vg-Ex), 117 Sikma RC (Ex-Mt due to centering), and 125 Lanier (personalized, otherwise Nr/Mt+). This is an extremely substantial collection of signed cards from this popular 1970s basketball issue, which offers a tremendous foundation for the assembly of a completely signed set or offers a significant contribution to such a set already in progress.
