Copyrighted in 1949 and released to the public in 1950, this complete set of "Wild West" cards features some of the finest artwork of any Bowman production. The set is organized into eight separate series (A through H), each with a different theme relating to the Old West: "Winning the West," "Indian Costumes," "Famous Characters," "Indian Warfare," "Cowboy Life," "Law and Order," "River Days," and "Western Stars." Includes five duplicates (#A-4, A-18, A-21, B-8, and F-4). Condition is 17% Vg-Ex to Ex (including a few Ex-Mt), 37% Gd to Vg, and 46% Pr to Fr (including two trimmed). Five cards are graded and encapsulated by PSA: #B-18 (EX 5, holder is scratched), D-16 (EX-MT 6), D-18 (EX-MT+ 6.5), F-20 (VG-EX 4), and G-17 (EX+ 5.5). A very presentable medium- to lower-grade complete set of this scarce and extremely popular nonsport issue. Total: 185 cards (set of 180 plus five duplicates).
