Brine's "Boys Special" baseball signed in black fountain pen by thirteen members of the 1934 New York Yankees. The signatures appearing on the ball include those of Ruth (sweet spot), Gehrig, Lazzeri, Gomez, Ruffing, Chapman, MacFayden, Broaca, Byrd, Jorgens, Walker, Van Atta, and one we could not identify. Although the Yankees finished in second place in 1934, it marked a turning point in Gehrig's fabled career, as he finally emerged from Ruth's enormous shadow. For the first time ever Gehrig finally eclipsed Ruth in home runs, hitting a league-leading 49 to Ruth's 22. Gehrig also led the league in RBI (165) and batting average (.363), which earned him the Triple Crown. The ball has light soiling and scattered abrasions. All of the manufacturer's stampings are bold and legible. In Very Good condition overall. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
