Official American League baseball (Johnson) signed by Babe Ruth in black fountain pen across the sweet spot. Based upon the manufacturer's stampings, this ball was produced circa 1925. The use of quotation marks around "Babe" clearly dates it prior to 1930. (Ruth stopped using those quotation marks approximately around 1929.) This is a particularly attractive style ball and all of the manufacturer’s stampings remain remarkably bold and distinct. The ball has moderate soiling and a number of surface abrasions. According to both JSA and PSA/DNA, "there is evidence of signature removals." The demand for Ruth signed baseballs continues to be one of the great stories of our hobby and fully attests to Ruth’s status as the greatest sports idol in American history. This is a very appealing example of that most coveted relic. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA and full LOA from PSA/DNA.
