Description

Throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, the Kellogg's cereal company was the only true competition for Topps in the baseball-card market. The 1970 issue, offered here, represents the first time in decades that Kellogg's included baseball cards in cereal boxes, and is well known for its three-dimensional design. These sets have always been of great interest to collectors as they offer affordable alternatives to standard-issue Topps cards of the many Hall of Famers and stars included in each set. An impressive twenty-three Hall of Famers are featured throughout this set, including Johnny Bench, Roberto Clemente, Willie Mays, and Ernie Banks, as well as the many other stars of the day, including Pete Rose. Condition is 86% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (including some bordering on Mint), 7% ranging from Vg to Ex-Mt, and 7% lesser due to cracking (including Marichal and F. Robinson). Keys: #2 Rose (Nr/Mt due to centering), 7 Seaver (Nr/Mt-Mt), 12 Mays (Nr/Mt+), 27 Clemente (Nr/Mt-Mt), 32 Jackson (Nr/Mt), 40 Banks (Gd due to crack), 58 Bench (Nr/Mt+), and 71b Gibson (Nr/Mt+). A very attractive and mostly high-grade complete set of this unusual 1970s baseball series. Total: 75 cards.
