Lot # 1072: 1953 Johnston Cookies Braves Near-Complete Set (22/25) Including 12 Signed Cards

Near-complete set consisting of twenty-two different cards (out of 25 in a set) from the 1953 Johnston Cookies Braves series, highlighted by an impressive twelve different signed examples. The signatures are scripted in a variety of inks. Missing only three cards for completion: #1 Grimm, 5 Burdette, and 20 Logan. The regionally issued set features only Milwaukee Braves players. One card was inserted in a box of cookies. Complete sets were also made available from Johnston Cookies through a premium mail-in offer. Condition is five Ex to Ex-Mt (mostly unsigned), five Vg to Vg-Ex, and twelve lesser (including one trimmed and four due mostly to back damage). Keys: #10 Spahn (Ex, signed) and 21 Mathews (Vg-Ex). Eleven additional signed cards: #2, 4, 6, 7 Johnson, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 19.
