Extremely desirable example of Hall of Famer Christy Mathewson from the PC760 Rose Postcard set, one of the rarest and most beautifully designed baseball-card sets ever produced. The portrait used on this extraordinary card is the same that appears on several other famous Mathewson cards, including 1902 W600 Sporting Life Cabinet, 1904 Allegheny Co., 1910 E103 Williams Caramel, 1910-1911 M116 Sporting Life and 1915 E145 Cracker Jack. This is obviously an iconic and very popular pose! Graded POOR 10 by SGC due to heavy creasing and a faint pencil mark near Mathewson's left ear. The card has never been mailed and has no writing on the reverse. This is one of only 12 examples of Mathewson ever graded by PSA and SGC combined, and it is only the eighth Rose postcard of Mathewson that we can recall offering. This is a very presentable example of one of the key Hall of Famers from this beautiful and rare set and one that would make an outstanding addition to any PC760 set, Hall of Fame type-card collection, or Mathewson player collection.
