Description

The 1954 Topps set has always been one of the most popular sets of the 1950s. Issued in the heart of the decade, the set features the rookie cards of Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, and Al Kaline, along with many other Hall of Famers and stars, including two examples of Ted Williams (first and last cards in the set), all in brilliant color. Many of the cards in this set show faint evidence of one-time storage under corner mounts and have been slightly downgraded accordingly. Condition is 40% Ex to Ex-Mt (approximately two-thirds Ex), 51% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 9% lesser. Keys: #1 Williams (Gd), 3 Irvin (Vg), 10 Robinson (altered, otherwise Vg), 13 Martin (Ex), 17 Rizzuto (Ex), 20 Spahn (Ex), 30 Mathews (Vg-Ex), 32 Snider (Vg-Ex+), 36 Wilhelm (Gd due to spot of paper loss on reverse), 37 Ford (Ex), 45 Ashburn (Ex-Mt), 50 Berra (Fr-Gd), 70 Doby (Vg), 90 Mays (Vg), 94 Banks RC (2/98 T/B, otherwise Vg due to very small edge tear), 102 Hodges (Vg-Ex+), 128 Aaron RC (trimmed and color added on reverse, otherwise Vg), 132 Lasorda RC (10/90 L/R, otherwise Ex), 201 Kaline RC (100/0 L/R, otherwise Ex), 239 Skowron RC (10/90 L/R, otherwise Ex), and 250 Williams (Vg). Extremely attractive vintage sets that are in mid-grade condition are especially desirable, representing an exceptional collecting value. This is a beautiful yet still relatively affordable set of this classic early Topps issue, loaded with Hall of Famers and stars from the 1950s. Total: 250 cards.
