Lot # 2958: 1966 Topps "Batman" Complete and Near-Complete Set Collection (7 Sets, 334 Cards) Plus 155 Duplicates

Batman took the world by storm in 1966 with the introduction of the wildly popular Batman television series. Topps joined the bandwagon with six series of card sets devoted to the Caped Crusader. Presented is a very substantial collection of 489 cards from the first two of these series: 1966 Topps "Batman" and "Batman - A Series." The collection consists of five complete sets, two near-complete sets, and 155 duplicates. 1-2) 1966 Topps "Batman" Black Bat Complete Sets (2 sets, 110 cards). 3) 1966 Topps "Batman" Black Bat Near-Complete Set (52/55): Missing #17, 27, and 40 for completion. 4) 1966 Topps "Batman" Black Bat Duplicates (92 cards, including 44 different). 5-7) 1966 Topps "Batman - A Series" Red Bat Complete Sets (3 sets, 132 cards). 8) 1966 Topps "Batman - A Series" Red Bat Near-Complete Set (40/44): Missing #13, 29, 34, and 37 for completion. 9) 1966 Topps "Batman - A Series" Red Bat Duplicates (63 cards, including 26 different). The condition of the "Batman" Black Bat cards is 43% Vg-Ex or slightly better, 51% Gd to Vg, and 6% lesser (including the three examples of #1 "The Batman"). The condition of the "Batman - A Series" Red Bat cards is 34% Vg-Ex or slightly better, 60% Gd to Vg, and 6% lesser. This is a very attractive and consistent mid-grade collection of these popular 1960s Topps nonsport issues. Total: 489 cards.
