Cincinnati Reds home jersey worn by baseball's all-time hit king Pete Rose during the 1984 season. Graded A9.5 by MEARS. The white knit jersey features the Reds team logo on the left breast and the number "14" on the right breast and reverse. "Rose" is lettered on the reverse, directly above the number. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in solid red tackle twill. A "Rawlings 44" label is situated inside the front tail, directly to the right which is a flag tag reading "Set 1 1984." The red ink stamp "Purchased from Cincinnati Reds" is faintly visible below the manufacturer's tag. Rose has signed the jersey in black ink on the front. The jersey is original as issued, with no alterations, and displays moderate wear, including some minor staining on the reverse. Because of his seemingly boundless enthusiasm, Pete Rose was nicknamed "Charlie Hustle" by Whitey Ford. He is the career leader in hits (4,256), singles (3,215), at-bats (14,053) and games played (3,562). He is the only player to play 500 games at five different positions and in 1999 was named to baseball's "All-Century Team." Despite his problems on and off the field, Rose will forever be remembered as one of the greatest players to ever take the field, and, like Joe Jackson, will always be a member in spirit of the Hall of Fame, though he may never be formally enshrined. Graded A9.5 by MEARS (10-point base grade with a half point deducted for the staining). Full LOA from MEARS (jersey only). Basic Certification from PSA/DNA (autograph only).
