Impressive uncut panel from the scarce 1953-1954 Briggs Meats series featuring Washington Senators pitcher John Schmitz and catcher Robert Oldis. Briggs Meats were regionally issued in the Washington, D.C. area in two-card panels (one two-card panel per package of hot dogs). They are usually found with serious condition problems relating to their method of issue, including creases and hot-dog stains. The 40-card set features a dozen stars from all three New York teams and 28 players from the Washington Senators. Graded FAIR 1.5 by SGC, the offered panel displays heavy creasing. This is an exceptional uncut panel from one of the most significant of all 1950s regional issues.
