Lot # 2407: Circa 1949 Yogi Berra Original New York Yankees Photograph PSA/DNA Type I - Image Used For 1950 Bowman Card

Original photo of Hall of Fame catcher Yogi Berra used in the production of Berra's 1950 Bowman baseball card. Encapsulated and certified as an original Type I photograph by PSA/DNA. The image, which is instantly recognizable to card collectors, captures Berra in a catcher's stance, with his right arm cocked behind his head, ready to throw the ball. Photos used in the production of trading cards, especially those featuring prominent Hall of Famers such as Berra, have become increasingly popular in recent years. This is one of only a small number of vintage photos we have seen featuring a player image attributed to the 1950 Bowman set. The photo, which has been trimmed to its current dimensions of 9.25 x 7.25 inches, displays a small tear along the bottom edge that has been repaired by clear tape on the reverse. Very Good condition overall.
