Original news photo of Babe Ruth as a member of the New York Yankees speaking with George Dern, who served as the United States Secretary of War from 1933 to 1936. Certified as an original Type I photograph by PSA/DNA. Per the original "Harris & Ewing" paper news caption on the reverse, Ruth is presenting Dern with autographed balls and bats, which were to be awarded to the outstanding athlete at each of the 48 Citizen's Military Training Camps that summer. The reverse displays the aforementioned paper news caption (which is dated June 28, 1934), multiple stamps (including a "Harris & Ewing" credit stamp), and a few editorial notations. The photo (7 x 10 inches) exhibits scattered creasing, is missing a piece along the bottom border and has a tear along the right edge. Good condition overall.
