Original large-format photograph capturing the 1927 World Champion New York Yankees in a classic team pose. Certified as an original Type I photograph by PSA/DNA. Thirty members of the club are pictured here posing together in front of the grandstands at Yankee Stadium, including Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, manager Miller Huggins, Herb Pennock, Earle Combs, Waite Hoyt, Tony Lazzeri, Bob Meusel, Bob Shawkey, and Mark Koenig. The photographer's credit stamp "Underwood" appears in the lower right corner. The 1927 New York Yankees, powered by Ruth, Gehrig, and the other members of baseball's famed "Murderers' Row," are still considered by many historians to be the greatest team ever assembled. Their World Series performance that year certainly affirmed that title, as the Yankees easily swept the Pirates in four straight games. The photo (10-7/8 x 14 inches) displays a number of obvious condition flaws, including heavy creasing, edges tears and chips, staining front and back and the upper-left corner missing. In Poor condition. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
