Description

Presented is a very attractive Callahan Hall of Fame near-complete set (73 out of 82). Issued annually from 1950 to 1956, the Callahan Hall of Fame card set was the official set of the Hall of Fame. It was updated each year until 1956 with the inductees from that year as well as some corrections and updates. The end result is an 82-card basic set and a 91-card master set (including nine cards with two variations). The cards released in the later years of the set are very rare. This near-complete basic set is missing only the following nine cards for completion: Chandler, Connolly, Dickey, Hartnett, Lyons, Schalk, Vance, Wallace, and Museum Interior. Callahans are one of card collecting's most overlooked 1950s issues. Included are a duplicate of Morgan Bulkeley and both variations of Eddie Collins and Museum Exterior. Condition is 9% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, 13% Ex to Ex-Mt, 58% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 20% lesser. Eight cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA (7) and SGC (1). Keys: Baker (NM-MT 8), Bender (NM-MT 8), Cobb (VG 3), DiMaggio (SGC NM 7), Gehrig (GOOD 2), W. Johnson (Vg-Ex), Mathewson (Vg), Ruth (FAIR 1.5), Wagner (Vg), H. Wright (EX-MT 6), Museum Exterior View/last line ends "playing days..." (Pr), and Museum Exterior View/last line ends "all baseball..." (NM-MT 8). This is an impressive near-complete set of one of card collecting's most overlooked 1950s issues. Total: 76 cards (near set of 73 plus one duplicate and two variations).
