Rare and striking example of #159 Ty Cobb from the 1913-1915 "Pinkerton" Postcard series. This series is closely related to the T5 Pinkerton Cabinet issue and features the same images, including caption designs (in 3.5 x 5.5-inch postcard size) as those that appear on the T5 cabinets, though the actual issuer of the set is unknown. Multiple styles are known to exist for these postcards, including scorecard-back examples, which allowed the holder to fill in a lineup and score a game on the reverse of a player postcard. The offered example is a blank-back variety. Featuring a black-and-white photo of the Hall of Famer making a fully extended leaping catch, this card has honest wear on the corners. The postcard has been addressed and mailed. Graded POOR 10 by SGC, it should be noted that the grade is largely reliant upon the fact that the postcard has been addressed and mailed. That aside, the card is closer to Gd-Vg in its overall appearance. An ideal card featuring one of the game's most legendary stars from this rare 1910-era issue.
