Lot # 93: 1908 and 1909 PC765 A. C. Dietsche Detroit Tigers Postcard Collection (17) Including Hughie Jennings and Sam Crawford

Presented is a very attractive mid-grade collection of seventeen different 1908 and 1909 A. C. Dietsche Detroit Tigers Postcards, highlighted by Hall of Famers Sam Crawford and Hughie Jennings. Originally produced by the Dietsche Postcard Company of Detroit to commemorate the Tigers' participation in the 1907 World Series, these postcards were also issued in two more series, in 1908 and 1909. The three series are distinct; each is identifiable by a copyright year on the reverse and subtle differences to the front (notably the inclusion of a player's last name next to his image). This lot features postcards from the 1908 and 1909 series. This collection consists of the following: 1) 1908 (Series 2) Partial Set (14/22): Condition is Vg to Vg-Ex, with all postcards showing indentations from one-time storage under corner mounts. Keys: Crawford (Vg, HOF) and Jennings (Vg/Vg-Ex, HOF). Killian, O'Leary, and Schmidt are the rarer "no name on front" variations. Missing the following eight cards for completion: Cobb, Coughlin, Downs, Jones, Payne, Schaefer, Thomas, and Winter. 2) 1909 (Series 3) - 3 cards: Delehanty (Vg), Jones (Vg), and Works (Vg-Ex).
