Lot # 1823: 1976 Hostess Complete Set (150) On 50 Uncut Panels

Complete set of 1976 Hostess in panel form. In 1975 Hostess issued its first landmark set of 150 cards on the bottom of boxes of Hostess snack-cake products, with one three-card panel appearing on the bottom of each box. The set was sensationally successful, and collectors all over the country were seen stocking up on Hostess products. The offered set is the second of five annual releases. A complete set in panel form, as presented here, features all 150 player cards on fifty different panels. Condition of the panels is 85% ranging from Vg-Ex to Nr/Mt+ (averaging Ex/Ex-Mt) and 15% ranging from Pr to Vg (averaging Gd+). Overall condition would be higher if considered as 150 individual cards, many of which would grade Nr/Mt-Mt to Mint if cut carefully. Keys: #64/65/66 w/ Rose/Fisk (Fr due to small tear of Rose card), 79/80/81 w/ Ryan (Nr/Mt), 82/83/84 w/ Winfield/Schmidt (Vg-Ex+ with card portions much higher), 94/95/96 w/ Aaron (Nr/Mt+), 112/113/114 w/ Simmons/Brett (Ex+ with card portions much higher), and 136/137/138 w/ Eckersley/Jenkins (Vg-Ex overall, with Nr/Mt-Mt Eckersley). Very attractive complete set of these unusual, scarce, and underrated Hostess package-design cards.
