Description

Topps produced the most highly regarded American movie star set of the post-WWII era in 1953. Offered is a substantial collection of "Who-Z-At Star" consisting of a near-complete set of sixty-nine different cards (out of eighty in a set) plus 121 duplicates. The set features many of the most famous movie stars of the era, including Errol Flynn, Spencer Tracy, Elizabeth Taylor, Lana Turner, Clark Gable, and Gene Kelly. The name of the set “Who-Z-At Star” refers to the identification quiz printed on the back of each card. Missing the following eleven cards for completion: #5, 10, 29, 35, 44 Janet Leigh, 45 Ava Gardner, 49, 66, 70, 74, and 78. The condition of the near-set is 44% Vg-Ex to Ex (approximately two-thirds Vg-Ex), 45% Gd to Vg, and 11% lesser. The condition of the duplicates ranges from Pr to Vg-Ex (averaging Gd). This is a very presentable medium- to lower-grade collection of this popular 1950s nonsport issue. Total: 190 cards (near set of 69 plus 121 duplicates).
