When Jackie Robinson broke into the Major Leagues in 1947, numerous pins were produced for sale at stadium concession stands. The late 1940s and early 1950s were the heyday of the "stadium pin" sets, so in the years that followed his Major League debut, additional Jackie Robinson pins were also issued. Aside from Babe Ruth, perhaps no player has ever been the subject of more pins (and more interest from pin collectors) than Robinson. This collection features six Jackie Robinson pins from the era. 1) Circa 1948 PM10 dugout pose. Ex. 2) Classic circa 1950 PM10 portrait pin with yellow ribbon and charm. This pin was part of a larger series featuring the Dodgers. Diameter: 1.75 inches. Vg-Ex. 3-4) Two classic circa 1950 PM10 portrait pins, each part of a larger series of Dodgers players, with yellow and blue backgrounds respectively. Each 1.75 inches in diameter. The Yellow-background pin is in Vg-Ex condition, while the blue-background pin is in Ex condition. 5) Rare circa 1950 PM10 portrait pin with white ribbon and charm. This pin features the same image of Robinson that appears on a blue-background PM10, but the black-and-white examples are considerably rarer. Diameter: 1.75 inches. Vg-Ex. 6) Rare circa 1950 PM10 portrait pin. This pin features the same image of Robinson that appears on a blue-background PM10, but the black-and-white examples are considerably rarer.
