Description

Original photo of Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame slugger Jimmie Foxx taken by noted baseball photographer George Burke. Encapsulated and certified by PSA/DNA as an original Type I Burke photograph. Foxx's name (typed), the notation "246-A1", and Burke's credit stamp appear on the reverse. It is interesting to note that this particular image was used in the production of Foxx's 1940 Play Ball card. Legendary baseball photographer George Burke, a Chicago-based photographer, began his sports photography career in 1929. For his era, Burke is held in the same high esteem as his most famous predecessors, masters such as Conlon, Bain, and Thompson. Photos used in the production of trading cards have become increasingly popular in recent years. The photo (4 x 6 inches) is in Excellent condition overall.
