Description

Original photo of New York Yankees Hall of Fame first baseman Lou Gehrig taken by noted baseball photographer George Burke. Encapsulated and certified by PSA/DNA as an original Type I Burke photograph. Gehrig's name (typed), multiple notations, and Burke's credit stamp appear on the reverse. Gehrig is captured at the plate in his batting stance, awaiting the pitch. Legendary baseball photographer George Burke, a Chicago-based photographer, began his sports photography career in 1929. For his era, Burke is held in the same high esteem as his most famous predecessors, masters such as Conlon, Bain, and Thompson. Photos used in the production of trading cards have become increasingly popular in recent years. The photo (4 x 6 inches) displays light soiling on the reverse and is in Very Good to Excellent condition overall.
