Lot # 940: 1937 V300 O-Pee-Chee #118 Joe DiMaggio SGC VG 3

Graded VG 3 by SGC. Offered is an extremely attractive mid-grade example of New York Yankees Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio, the key card from this rare, unusual, and very substantial 1930s Canadian issue. This is an exceptional example of one of the rarest, earliest, and most desirable of all Joe DiMaggio cards. Cards from the 1937 V300 O-Pee-Chee set are very difficult to find in high grade. These cards are designed with die-cut backgrounds that can be punched out and folded to allow each card to stand up. Because of this design, many V300s are naturally found in damaged condition, and in many cases with the die-cut backgrounds missing. This example displays a crisp, well-focused image with even wear on the corners, and the background is complete and intact. The reverse is mainly clean with bold black text printed in both English and French. This is an extremely attractive mid-grade example of one of DiMaggio’s rarest cards.
