Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. Real-photo postcard featuring legendary football coach Amos Alonzo Stagg (far left) posing together with 19 members of his college football team, the University of Chicago Maroons, during the 1904 season. "Foot Ball Team, University of Chicago" appears in black letters below the players. Stagg was both a standout college football player (Yale) and coach, as well as an innovator in a number of other sports, including basketball, where he was largely responsible for making it a five-player sport. His accomplishments in both football and basketball later earned him inaugural induction into both the College Football Hall of Fame (1951) and Basketball Hall of Fame (1959). The postcard (5-1/4 x 3-1/4 inches), which is not addressed or mailed, displays superb image clarity and honest corner wear.
