Rare Sam Crawford Spalding "Autograph" signature-model bat (predating model numbers) dating from the 1917-1925 manufacturing period. Graded GU 6 by PSA/DNA. The bat has the Spalding logo stamped on the knob. According to PSA/DNA, the bat has "evidence of heavy use with a handle crack that has been repaired. The bat has also been refinished." As noted in the accompanying LOA from PSA/DNA, both the Spalding Gold Medal Autograph and Autograph series bats were produced for the professional players whose name appears on the bat, but they were also available to other major league players and sold on the retail market. An outstanding hitter, Crawford finished his career with a .309 average and his record of 309 lifetime triples will probably never be broken. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1957.
