Original photo of Cincinnati Reds pitcher Dutch Ruether during Game 1 of the 1919 World Series, taken by noted baseball photographer Charles Conlon. Encapsulated and certified as an original Type I Charles Conlon photograph by PSA/DNA. Ruether was the undisputed star of the Series opener, tossing a complete game while also pacing Cincinnati's offense with three hits and three RBI in a 9-1 victory over the "Black Sox." Conlon's handwritten notations appear on the reverse. The photo (7.75 x 9.5 inches), which has been trimmed to its current dimensions, displays a chipped bottom-right corner and is in Very Good to Excellent condition overall.
