Pair of presentation photo albums dedicated to the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany, held from August 1st to August 16th. The 1936 Summer Olympics are best remembered for the dominating performance displayed by Jesse Owens of the United States. Owens, the fastest man alive during the 1930s, won four gold medals (100 meters, 200 meters, long jump, and 4x100 meter relay), the most by any athlete, and in doing so helped discredit Hitler's doctrine of Aryan supremacy. The smaller softcover album (13 x 9 inches) features photos of athletes from several nations (including Owens) competing in a variety of sports. It exhibits light handling wear and is in Very Good condition overall. The larger hardcover album (18 x 14 inches) is dedicated to Japan's participation in the 1936 Summer Olympics. The photos are accompanied by text in both English and German. Japan won a total of 20 medals, including six gold medals. The album displays a patch of surface loss along the Japanese flag featured on the front cover and light handling wear; Very Good condition overall. Total: 2 albums. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
