Lot # 2808: 1940 R146 Leader Novelty "Superman" Collection (15)

Presented is a rarely offered collection of fifteen different R146 "Superman" cards (out of thirty-six in the set) issued in 1940 by the Leader Novelty Gum Company of New York. These fascinating novelty cards were designed to be hand cut from the back of one of the company's candy boxes. The front of the cards feature Superman in an action-scene, while the backs have a brief description of the illustrated picture on the front. The condition, without reference to the neatness of the cuts, is Pr to Fr overall, with two Gd and one Vg. Five cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by SGC. This collection consists of the following: #2 (POOR 10), 3 (GOOD 30), 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 (horizontal reverse), 12, 14, 17, 18 (POOR 10), 19 The Shattered Press (POOR 10), 21, 23 (GOOD 30), and coupon card (Vg).
