Complete 48-card set of the 1940 "Lone Ranger" gum-card issue. The condition of the low numbers (#1-36) is 22% Ex to Ex-Mt, 67% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 11% lesser (including one trimmed). Two cards have been professionally graded EX 5 by PSA (#9 and 19). The twelve high-number cards (#37-48) are particularly scarce and grade Ex-Mt, two Ex, three Vg-Ex, four Vg, Gd, and Pr-Fr (#48, due mostly to partially erased pencil on the reverse). Gum, Inc.'s 1940 "Lone Ranger" series is one of the most popular nonsport sets ever issued. Its outstanding color, detailed artwork, popular subject matter, and the exciting adventures presented on the backs all contribute to make this set an all-time classic.
