1961 New York Yankees program issued for the club’s 81st and final home game, against the Boston Red Sox on October 1st, when Roger Maris broke Babe Ruth’s single-season home run record. Maris’ epic blast, a solo shot, occurred in the fourth inning with one out against Tracy Stallard. Neatly scored in blue ink to record the Yankees' 1-0 win. Only 23,154 fans turned out that day in what was otherwise a meaningless game. As a result, programs from the game are scarcer than one would imagine. The program (5.75 x 9 inches) displays a vertical fold down the center, scattered creasing, several tack holes, and staining along the interior pages. Fair to Good condition overall.
