Description

Ticket stub from the 1949 All-Star Game, held at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn on July 12, 1949. Graded EX 5 by PSA. This game is notable for not only Jackie Robinson's first All-Star Game appearance, but it also was the first All-Star Game to include African-American ballplayers (Robinson, Roy Campanella, and Don Newcombe for the National League and Larry Doby for the American League). Fittingly, the game was played at Ebbets Field, where Robinson broke the color barrier two years earlier. Robinson doubled in his first All-Star Game at-bat in the bottom of the first inning, and Stan Musial followed with a home run. The American League defeated the National League 11-7. The stub (3-3/4 x 2-1/4 inches) is in outstanding condition with light handling wear.
