This is a scarce artist's proof of this acclaimed work, a fact that has been duly noted, along with its limitation number, directly below Holland's signature ("AP 3/56"). Mantle is captured here in a batting pose, with Holland's hand embellishments serving to accentuate the visual appeal of the piece. Produced in 2004. Stephen Holland is an internationally acclaimed sports artist. In 1993, he was named the Sports Artist of the Year by the American Sport Art Museum, and he was also one of twelve artists selected by the United States Olympic Committee to represent the 100th Anniversary of the Olympics.
