Description

Ticket stub issued for Game 2 of the 1914 World Series between the Philadelphia Athletics and the Boston "Miracle Braves", held at Shibe Park in Philadelphia on October 10th. Bill James twirled a two-hit complete game shutout as the Braves defeated the Athletics 1-0. This ticket is linked to one of the most improbable World Championships in baseball history. On July 18, 1914, the Braves were in last place and trailed the first-place Giants by eleven games. Miraculously, the Braves went on a remarkable winning streak, posting a record of 60-16 to close the season and capture the pennant. That incredible feat, together with their subsequent victory over the A's in the World Series, earned the club the apt sobriquet “The Miracle Braves." The ticket stub (4-1/8 x 2 inches) displays multiple patches of tape residue and a strip of paper loss along the left edge. Fair condition overall. An extremely desirable example of this scarce World Series ticket stub.
