Lot # 2657: Circa 1960s Fidel Castro Throwing Baseball Original Photograph PSA/DNA Type I

Original photo of Fidel Castro, circa 1960s. Encapsulated and certified as an original Type I photograph by PSA/DNA. The former president of Cuba, captured here throwing a baseball, was a passionate fan of the sport. The reverse features two separate editorial notations identifying one of the background subjects as Cuban baseball superstar Martin Dihigo. Positioned over Castro's left shoulder, wearing a light-colored, brimmed hat, the man's facial details are not distinct enough to definitively identify him as Dihigo. An ardent supporter of Castro's regime, Dihigo returned to Cuba following Castro's rise to power and worked with ballplayers there until he died in 1971. The photo (2.75 x 4.25 inches), which has been trimmed to its current dimensions, is in Very Good to Excellent condition overall.
