Lot # 2502: 1947 Circa Bob Feller Dreamsicle and 1962 Roger Maris Gold Mine Icicle Advertisement Pair

And a boon for the collecting community, as those endorsements are often conveyed to the public by means of colorful display pieces. The spectacular visual appeal offered by the displays, combined with their inherent nostalgic appeal, has resulted in their great popularity among collectors today. Offered here is a pair of vintage player-endorsed advertising displays dating from the 1940s and the 1960s. 1) 1947 Bob Feller Dreamsicle Advertising Sign. Bob Feller makes a pitch for Dreamsicle ice-milk pops in this colorful 1947 advertising sign. Feller is pictured in a pitching pose to the left, while the caption reads "Pitch into a Delicious Dreamsicle Frozen Ice Milk On-A-Stick says Bob Feller World Champion strike out - no hit, Cleveland Indians Pitcher. The text along the bottom border reminds patrons that the wrappers can be redeemed for "swell gifts." A 1947 copyright notice appears in the lower left. The sign (20 x 7.5 inches), which is printed on thin paper stock, displays a few light vertical creases which do not detract in the least from its Excellent appearance. The sign has been affixed to a blue mount and is framed to total dimensions of 26 x 14 inches. 2) Circa 1962 Roger Maris Gold Mine Icicle Advertisement. Roger Maris goes to bat for Gold Mine brand ice cream in this colorful retail advertising poster. Maris is pictured in his Yankees uniform in the bottom right, while the text reads "Roger Maris Says Refresh with Gold Mine Icicle.. Buy'Em Here... in delicious Frozen Fruit Flavors." An illustration of the frozen confection is featured prominently next to Maris' image. Maris was recruited by Gold Mine as a company spokesperson following his record-breaking 1961 season. Printed on thin paper stock, the poster (17 x 11 inches) displays a few light creases and a small discoloration near the right edge. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Total: 2 items.
