This 30-player pin set was issued in 1938 and is referred to as "Our National Game," based on the name printed along the top of the original cardboard backings they were sold on. This is one of the few quality pin sets of the era and an exceptional value compared to most other 1930s issues. Each pin, which measures 7/8 inches in diameter and features a player portrait, has a bendable "tab" rather than a pin back. Printed in blue and white with the respective player's name and team below his image, the set is highlighted by Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Dizzy Dean, Jimmy Foxx, and many other Hall of Famers. The surface of these pins chips and wears very easily. The pins in this set have some surface wear, ranging in condition from Gd to Ex (averaging Vg/Vg-Ex and with a couple slightly lesser, including a Fair example of Gehrig). All thirty pins include original cardboard backings, which grade 26% Ex or better, 47% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 27% lesser. The DiMaggio pin displays a piece of tape holding the pin tab to the backing. Total: 30 pins.
