In his letter, on New York Base Ball Club letterhead, McGraw writes to former pitcher Ferdie Schupp, thanking him for the gift presented to McGraw by the Giants team. In full: My dear Ferd: I cannot tell you what pleasure I have enjoyed in reading the beautiful set of Shakespeare's Writings which was presented to me by the members of the Giants. The beauty of this wonderful Series not alone appeals to me but has been admired by every person who has seen it. To look at the autographs of the boys brings back to mind one of the greatest years in the history of base ball. I want to tell you how much I thank you and how greatly I know I appreciate it. A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and many more. Sincerely, John J. McGraw [signed]. McGraw's signature is scripted in black fountain pen. The letter (8-3/8 x 11 inches) displays a horizontal and two vertical mailing folds. There is minor creasing and a light stain on the upper right corner. In Good condition overall. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
