Lot # 2103: Christy Mathewson Cut Signature in Framed Display - JSA

Presented is a cut signature of Hall of Fame pitcher Christy Mathewson. Mathewson's signature has been executed in black ink. He has added the inscription "Yours truly" above his signature. The cut has been framed together with a black-and-white photo (modern print) of Mathewson. Mathewson was one of the first five inductees into the Baseball Hall of Fame, along with Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, and Honus Wagner. Of those elite five, Mathewson's signature is by far the rarest because of his untimely death at the age of forty-five in 1925. The cut (4 x 1.5 inches) is in apparent Excellent condition.
