Description

George Brett Louisville Slugger signature-model ("F124") bat dating from the 1985 season. Graded GU 9 by PSA/DNA. The bat displays evidence of heavy use along its entire length, including numerous ball marks (with blue-ink transfers), ball-stitch impressions, checking (grain swelling), cleat marks with blue shoe polish residue, and a heavy application of pine tar on the cracked handle. Brett's initials ("GB") and uniform number ("5") are both written on the knob end in black marker. Brett has signed the bat in blue marker on the barrel. One of the greatest hitters of the modern era and a three-time batting champion, Brett eclipsed the .300 mark eleven times during his career, including a career-high .390 in 1980. He finished his career with 3,154 hits, 317 home runs, 1,596 RBI and a .305 batting average. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1999. Length: 34.5 inches. Weight: 31.6 ounces. Full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA (bat only, corresponding sticker affixed to the knob end). Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA (autograph only). The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
