Rickey Henderson Louisville Slugger signature-model ("T141") bat dating from the 1989 season. Graded GU 9 by PSA/DNA. The bat displays evidence of outstanding use, including ball marks, ball-stitch impressions, bat rack marks, and tape on the cracked handle. There is a moderate coat of pine tar along the handle. Henderson's uniform number ("24") is written in black marker on both the knob and end of the barrel. Henderson has signed the barrel in blue marker. Henderson quickly established himself as one of the game’s premier offensive players in 1980, finishing the season with a .303 batting average, 9 home runs, 53 RBI, 111 runs scored and a league-leading 100 stolen bases. Henderson would lead the league in stolen bases 12 times during his career, including a record 130 in 1982. Considered by many to be the greatest leadoff hitter in baseball history, Henderson retired in 2003 as the game's all-time leader in both stolen bases (1,406) and runs (2,295) and is one of only 33 players to amass 3,000 or more hits in his career. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2009, his first year of eligibility. Length: 34 inches. Weight: 31.1 ounces. Two full LOAs from PSA/DNA (for both the bat and autograph, a corresponding sticker is affixed to the handle). The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
