Lot # 1010: Signed 1939 R303-B Goudey Premiums Mel Ott

1939 R303-B Goudey Premium of Mel Ott, signed by Ott on the front. Ott has scripted the premium in black fountain pen across his image. Issued in 1939 by Goudey Gum, and catalogued R303-B in the American Card Catalog, this large-format (4.75 x 7.25 inches) premium set is printed on thin stock and was issued both in black and white and sepia toned. Ott is one of fourteen Hall of Famers featured in the twenty-four card set and signed examples are rare. This is the just the second signed example of this attractive Ott premium we have ever offered. The premium, which has been hand cut on all sides and affixed to a backing, displays two horizontal folds and a date stamp ("May 1 1944") along the base.
