Description

Original mixed media on canvas (mounted to board) painting of Roberto Clemente by world-renowned sports artist Arthur K. Miller. Signed by the artist in the lower-left corner. The artwork, which has been designed in the style of a 1948 Leaf baseball card, is one from an ongoing series of Miller's that he titles "Sports Cards That Never Were." Adding to the aesthetic appeal of this piece is the fact that Miller has intentionally distressed the canvas to give it a vintage "antique" quality. In addition to his signature on the front, Miller has also signed, dated, "2024," and titled the piece, "A Baseball Card That Never Was: Roberto Clemente (1948 Leaf)" on the reverse. Arthur K. Miller is an award-winning portrait artist specializing in historical sports figures and Pop Culture icons. His work has been exhibited and collected internationally for over 30 years, including an unprecedented five-year solo exhibition at the National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum. His exacting portraits are featured in many permanent collections, including those of the Baseball Hall of Fame, the New York Historical Society and the Louisville Slugger Museum. Miller’s sports portraits also regularly appear on the cover of the PSA Magazine. Mint condition. 16.25 x 19.75 inches. Framed to total dimensions of 18 x 21.5 inches. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
