Original photo of St. Louis Browns Hall of Fame second baseman Rogers Hornsby taken by noted baseball photographer George Burke. Encapsulated and certified by PSA/DNA as an original Type I Burke photograph. Hornsby's name (typed), the notation "361-A7", and Burke's credit stamp appear on the reverse. It is interesting to note that this particular image on the offered photo was used in the production of Hornsby's 1936 R311 Leather Finish Premium. Legendary baseball photographer George Burke, a Chicago-based photographer began his sports photography career in 1929. For his era, Burke is held in the same high esteem as his most famous predecessors, masters such as Conlon, Bain, and Thompson. Photos used in the production of trading cards have become increasingly popular in recent years. The photo (4 x 6 inches) is in Excellent condition overall.
