Rare Al Simmons Zinn Beck model bat (predating model numbers) dating from the 1926-1929 manufacturing period. PSA/DNA has deemed the bat "authentic as described." The bat has the Zinn Beck logo stamped on the knob. According to PSA/DNA, the bat is "uncracked and exhibits evidence of moderate use," and "a few ball marks are visible on the left barrel. Also visible on the bat are blue bat rack streaks and a few depressions on the right barrel." Simmons was one of the best hitting outfielders in baseball for more than a decade, starting in 1924. He drove in at least 100 runs in each of his first 11 seasons in the majors. On the field, Simmons was a warrior, intent on damaging the enemy and demolishing pitchers with his bat, stifling rallies with his glove and upsetting infielders with take-out slides. He was best known for his odd batting stance, which earned him the name "Bucketfoot Al." He finished his career with a lifetime batting average of .334. Simmons was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1953. Length: 36 inches. Weight: 31.1 ounces. Full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA (a corresponding sticker is affixed to the handle). The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
