Description

Original Gillette "World Series Special" die-cut display issued in the early 1940s when the company was the sole sponsor for World Series radio broadcasts on Mutual Broadcasting System (MBS). The colorful store display features an MBS microphone alongside Gillette products, built around an intriguing offer: a Tech Razor, 10 Blue Blades, and a tube of Gillette Shaving Cream (Brushless or Lather) for just 49¢. An endorsement for the Tech Razor from New York Yankees star third baseman Red Rolfe appears in the lower right. The display (22 x 32 inches) exhibits wear commensurate with its age and former use, including scattered creasing, edge wear, and a puncture along the lower-left edge. The original easel is intact. Good condition overall. As the dominant sponsor of the World Series for multiple decades, this display endures as a scarce relic from one of MLB's most prominent corporate partnerships. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
