This rare advertising display, produced in 1912 for the International Tailoring Co., pays homage to the 1885/1886 World Champion St. Louis Browns. Titled "International Events," the display features portrait images of 12 members of the St. Louis Browns, plus team owner Chris von der Ahe, set against the backdrop of an American flag. Among the players pictured are Hall of Famer Charles Comiskey, Tip O'Neill, Bob Caruthers, Dave Foutz, Arlie Latham, and Doc Bushong. The caption below reads "The Men That Made Base-Ball Famous/The Famous St. Louis Browns (American Assc.) who won the World's Championship Series 1885-6, from Chicago White Stockings (National League). Photographs from collection of Mr. Chas. A. Comiskey, President White Sox (American League)." This is an extremely impressive display piece that would be at home in even the most advanced, museum-quality collection. The display (20 x 13.5 inches) has a few slight creases and may have been slightly trimmed along all four borders; otherwise it is in Excellent condition overall. The piece has been affixed to a cardboard matting with white framers tape on the reverse. Matted to total dimensions of 26 x 20 inches. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
