1969 New York Mets World Series ring, in its original wood presentation box, issued to staff member Robert Costello. While all World Series rings are special, this example is one of the most significant from the modern era because it represents the New York Mets' first World Championship in franchise history. The front of the ring features a single cubic zirconia stone set upon a blue stone, with the words "New York Mets - World Champions - 1969" engraved in raised relief along the perimeter. The right shank bears the recipient's name "Costello," the Mets team logo, and a depiction of a baseball cap. The left shank features a depiction of Shea Stadium, above which is engraved three separate banners that read, respectively, "Eastern Division," National League," and "World Series." Below the Shea Stadium design is a crown, upon which is engraved the words "Mets vs. Orioles." Engraved along the interior of the ring is Costello's name along with the Jostens logo and "10K." The ring has normal light wear commensurate with its age and use. In Excellent to Mint condition overall. The original presentation box (5 x 4 x 1.75 inches) features the engraved inscription "Presented to Robert Costello/By the New York Mets/World Champions 1969" along a plaque affixed to the lid. The lid is detached from the rear hinge but still attached via the interior lining. Very Good condition overall. Approximate size: 9. Approximate weight: 37 grams.
